ICE Technical Tour 2025
Shma had the honour of being a speaker at the ICE Technical Tour 2025 – ‘From Parks to Placemaking: Bangkok Green Design’ held in the vibrant city of Bangkok, Thailand.
21st September 2025, Shma had the honor of being a speaker at the ICE Technical Tour 2025 – ‘From Parks to Placemaking: Bangkok Green Design’ held in the vibrant city of Bangkok, Thailand. The tour was arranged by the ILAM Centre of Excellence – ICE, the professional organization for landscape architects, and gathered 30 participants who came to study and observe projects in Bangkok.
The objective of the tour was to provide participants with valuable insights into innovative design processes and sustainable urban development, achieved through comprehensive surveys and on-site visits to a diverse array of urban landscape projects situated in Bangkok.
Shma, along with Mr. Yossapon Boonsom, Founding Director, and Mr. Napon Jaturapuchapornpong, Marketing Communication Manager, guided the participants in visiting and presenting the design processes. The journey began at Suan San, a newly revitalized pocket park in Khlong San created under Bangkok’s ‘15-Minute Park’ initiative. Suan San is a powerful example of how private land can be transformed into public space through collaboration, vision, and true community participation.
The group then proceeded to Lan Kila Pat 2, a project developed under the busy highway, where unutilized space has been turned into a sports arena and playground for all ages. Through a strong participatory process with the local community, this limited space has been designed to host events throughout the day, supported by night lighting and greenery that helps filter dust and improve air quality.
