Bang Bon Ecological Park
Bang Bon - Ecological - Park - ECO - Flooding
The site for ‘Bang Bon Ecologial Park’ is situated on a neglected agricultural farmland in the outskirt of Eastern Bangkok. Bang Bon literally means ‘District full of Elephant Ear Plants’ hinting its original ecology as wetland. This means the area is prone to flooding.
We propose to increase the capacity to hold water during flood of the whole site by creating a deep and large reservoir in the middle of the park. Excavated soil is used to form series of mounds which will become a place for recreation activities as well as a place for new sustainable ecology above flood level. Indigenous flood resistance plants are the majority in the planting list.
